This is one inspiring and amazing article about body confidence everyone needs to read:
''19-year old Isa-Bella Leclair of New Brunswick, Canada, isn't one to let conventional beauty ideals affect her happiness or self-worth. Born with Parkes Weber Syndrome—a genetic condition that causes her right leg to swell to around 40 pounds—the stunning teen recently posted a photo of herself in a bikini in order to promote awareness about her condition and inspire body positivity in young women all over the world.
"My condition doesn't define me and there's no way I would let it stop me from wearing a cute swimsuit or a cute dress," Leclair told The Telegraph. "For me confidence is the most important part because when people see someone confident in their body - even with a disability - they don't have pity but instead admiration. I think it's important for people who have health issues to not only work on getting healthy but to work on loving yourself and accepting who you are."
There are not enough clap emojis in the world for that amazing sentiment. And, clearly, Leclair's positive attitude is infectious, as the teen recently won a beauty pageant in her hometown on Campbellton.
According to Leclair's mother, Joanne, the
inspiring young woman has always been this way.
"As a mom, I would expect her to come back home from school crying
because she couldn't do
something, but that day never came - not once," she said.
Even as a kid, Leclair would react to stares from strangers by simply
calmly explaining her condition.
"Children were just curious but once they knew I was okay they just
played with me," she said.
Just goes to show that it's not what you're born
with that matters, but how you use it! Confidence and self-acceptance
really is the key to everything.
"For me, beauty isn't just on the outside," she
said. "When I say someone is beautiful I see someone who makes you feel
good when you're around them."
