Friday Inspirations: Getting Your Attention By Awhinawhi Tega

#Inspiration #FridayInspirations

Welcome dear Tega! We are glad to be inspired by you.

Revelation 3:20 - Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

I find myself asking questions about what happens when the door isn't opened to Him. Does He give up and go away or does He linger longer in His knocks.

The truth of the matter is that God never walks away from the door and He doesn't give up on knocking. He ultimately doesn't give up on us. He promised not to leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). A merciful God willing to leave 99 sheep in pursuit of 1 lost sheep won't stop pounding on the door of our habitation.

Like a hunter smokes the rabbit hole to force the rabbit out, God would smoke the hole of your comfort zone to inconvenience you and
cause you to come out to Him at the door gasping for His fresh air. This explains why a lot of people who have rejected His call and invitation live a suffocated life.

Do you feel like where you are, what you are doing or whom you are with is sucking the life out of you? Do you feel like you are gasping for some kind of air that seems so far to reach? I enjoin you to run out to Jesus at the door. He doesn't force His way into your premises but He can force you out of your premises to come meet with Him at the door.

God would sometimes give you the bread of affliction so you would invariably run to Him for comfort.

A dramatic example of His smoke you out approach is found in 2 Samuel 14:29-31. King David's rebellious son, Absalom, sent for Joab in order to send Him with a message to his father. But Joab refused to come. Absalom sent for him a second time, but still Joab would not come. Finally, Absalom sent his servants to set Joab's barley fields on fire. With his field on fire, Joab came running to Absalom.

Don't wait for God to set your field on fire before you come running to Him, respond at His first call. If yours is already on fire, run to God. Your burning barley field may be to you in the form of a health challenge, an incurable sickness, a job, a marriage or relationship similar to Joseph's prison like experience, stagnation, unfruitfulness in marriage or career or it may be characterized by constant struggles.

God sometimes afflicts us to get our attention (Isaiah 30:20). Do you feel like what is happening to you is undeserved? Have you lived your life so morally right like job and yet experience the pain of affliction? Relax and run to God. Until the prodigal son was faced with affliction, He didn't think of his dad.

Like a dog trainer whistles to draw the attention of his dog, God may sound the whistle of affliction to get your attention if you refuse His knocks on your door. Infact, because God craves for our attention, the scripture promises us many afflictions (Psalm 34:19).

Like a womb exerts contractions on the fetus to force him out and be born, sometimes God would have life exert unpleasant womb like contractions on you so you can be born out of comfort.
C. S Lewis said that the voice of God is perceived as whispers in pleasure but as screams in pain. Pain, loss or deprivation may be a blessing if it comes to you to get your attention for God but don't wait for that. Respond at His first call to you.
