Wisdom and understanding are the 2 priceless possessions every human must have in life. They are all things money can buy.
Before we go further, we need to define what wisdom and understanding is for a better knowledge of what they mean.
Google Dictionary defines wisdom as ''the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement: the quality of being wise''.
The Free Dictionary defines wisdom as ''the ability to discern or judge what is true, right or lasting: insight''.
Google Dictionary defines understanding as ''the ability to understand something: comprehension''.
The Free Dictionary defines understanding as ''the ability by which one understands, intelligence''.
The truth is, if we have everything we can ever think of in life but we do not have wisdom and understanding, we practically do not have anything. But why did I say so?
***My references were gotten from the words of King Solomon in Proverbs 3 and 4
- The possession of wisdom and understanding makes you the wealthiest man alive.
*Verse 15 of Proverbs 3 says wisdom and understanding is more valuable and precious than rubies. Remember we talked here >>> chidinmainspirations.blogspot.com/2014/08/jewelleries-in-their-glory-episode-1.html?spref=tw … how rubies happens to be a very rare to find precious stone. It also happens to be the most expensive precious stone on earth.
Now if having wisdom and understanding is more valuable and precious than rubies, doesn't that make it a priceless possession to have?
*Verse 16 of Proverbs 3 says, wisdom and understanding gives life and riches beyond what you can ever imagine.
A business/wealthy man without wisdom and understanding will in no time go bankrupt.
- The possession of wisdom and understanding makes you the happiest man alive (Proverbs 3:18). A man with plenty riches but lacks wisdom and understanding, lacks everything.
- The possession of wisdom and understanding extends the length of days of a man's life.
- The possession of wisdom and understanding, keeps you far away from danger (Proverbs 3:23).
*Verse 17 of Proverbs 3 says, the possession of wisdom and understanding makes everything about you and your ways pleasant.
- Wisdom and understanding gives you peace in abundance.
We all know the importance of having peace of mind or peace as a whole.
- Every great, powerful and priceless thing was founded or birthed on the possession of wisdom and understanding.
Look at the Almighty God for example. He created the whole world and all that is in it with wisdom and understanding. It was by wisdom that ''He founded the earth and by understanding that He established the heavens'' (Proverbs 3:19).
It was by wisdom and by having understanding that He was able to discern that the clouds will give dew/rain to the earth. That the sun will be a light for people on earth by day and the moon, a light for people by night.
- The possession of wisdom and understanding enables you to be honoured and promoted (Proverbs 4:8).
- The possession of wisdom and understanding enables you to stand before Kings.
- The possession of wisdom and understanding gives you an ornament of grace (Proverbs 4:9).
-Having wisdom and understanding enables you have discretion beyond what you could ever imagine.
- Having wisdom and understanding enables you know what is safe to do and safe not to do or venture into.
- The possession of wisdom and understanding enables you discern who is for real and who is not.
- The possession of wisdom and understanding enables you know when to talk and when to remain silent.
... and the list goes on and on.
With the above analyses, am I right to say that wisdom and understanding are the 2 most priceless possessions every human must have in life? The great thing above the analyses is that they were the words of the world's wisest man (King Solomon), I just put some of them in my own words.
Above all, wisdom and understandung cannot be gotten from man or on your own, If you can have it at your own will, then where is the priceless in it? That means it will be at the disposal of those who need them and those who don't.
Wisdom and understand can only be gotten from The Only Wise God. He was the who gave the world's wisest man his wisdom. So I ask, will it not be wise to ask The Only Wise God for a portion of His wisdom? I leave you to answer that question.
I end with this, wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom and in all your getting, get understanding (Proverbs 4:7).
