The Mystery Behind Rainbows

#Discoveries

Rainbows are unique and beautiful works of art created by God. Rainbows occasionally appears on the sky after it finish raining. Why the word ''occasionally'' was used is because, rainbows are not seen on the sky often. They are unique, beautiful and really mind-blowing.  The one of the mysteries to rainbows is that, no one knows where they start from and where it actually ends. There is just this excitement, this unexplainable joy that naturally comes into the minds and hearts of people whenever they see a rainbow/rainbows.

According to Wikipedia,  rainbow is an optical and meteorological phenomenon that is caused by both reflection and refraction of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. It takes the form of amulticoloured arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun.

Now let's find out exactly what a rainbow is and how a rainbow came into existence. To find this out, we need to go back into history by opening the book of Genesis Chapter 9 vs 8- 17

''8 And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,
And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;
10 And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.
11 And I will establish my covenant with you, neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.
A rainbow basically is a symbol of God's covenant to man. God promised Noah after He had earlier destroyed the earth with flood as a result of the sins of man. In verse 11 as can be seen above, God made a vow to Noah and his household i.e. man, that He will never destroy the earth again with flood and He will remember this covenant by sending rainbow to earth after or whenever rain finish falling or while it is still raining (when I bring cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be see in the cloud).

 Rainbow... therefore means, a bow/bows that appear in the cloud after it rains/while it is raining which enables God to remember the promise He made to us never destroy the earth again with flood

Now let's take a moment to thank God for His rainbows. Let's take a moment to thank God for being a faithful God and for honouring His word more than His name (Psalm 138:2).
