Amaze God With Your Request

#Inspiration

Most times we pray and then wonder why God hasn’t answered our prayers or why are the answers to our prayers not forth coming. The answer really is simple; we are praying amiss, that’s why. How does one pray amiss? We pray amiss when we do not pray according to the will of God (James 4:3). The truth is, God doesn’t answer prayers based on the length of ones prayer/prayers but based on the depth of the heart the prayer is coming from and also if the prayer is according to His will.

I observed something great today and what was it? I observed that King Solomon was actually wise before God made him wiser than he already was and also made him the wisest man to ever live on the surface of the earth. Why did I say so? God said to King Solomon, ask me of anything and I will give it to you. King Solomon did not go asking God for wealth or prosperity or his wants amongst others. He however asked God for wisdom. He asked God for ‘’an understanding heart to judge your (God’s) people that he will be able to discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge your (God’s) so great a people?’’ (What a wise man King Solomon was! Only a wise man could say/ask for such a thing). His request amazed God. His request pleased God (1 Kings 3:5-10).

God said to him ‘’Because you have asked of this thing and have not asked for yourself long life, neither have you asked riches for yourself nor have you asked for the lives of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern judgement. Behold, I have done according to your words: lo I have given you a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like you before you, neither after you shall any arise unto you. And I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings unto you all thy days…’’ (I Kings 3:11-13)

King Solomon’s request moved God. Notice that God did not say that ‘’I will give’’ God said ‘’I have also given’’. That is, I have answered your request, I have also answered that which you did not ask of me and I have distinguished you forever among the souls that lived and will live on the surface of the earth.

Why did God do this? King Solomon did not focus on himself in his request. He rather chose to ask God for something that will benefit others. He chose to ask for a request that concerns the people he was given by God to rule and God blessed him beyond his wildest imagination.

When we pray according to the will of God, God amazes us with things we never even asked Him of. When praying, do not be selfish in your prayers. Do not let your prayers be only about you- you this, you that… rather ask for what you really need. Ask for what will benefit you and also benefit others. Put others in your prayers. Amaze God with your prayer request and watch God amaze you with answers beyond your wildest imagination.
