Some may say that the greatest mistake the devil ever
made was to think he could over throne God Almighty (Isaiah 14:13-14) that was
why he was cast down to earth (Revelations 12:7-9). Well… that was one of the
devil’s greatest mistakes ever but not the greatest.
The devil’s greatest mistake was to crucify Jesus. After
he killed Jesus, Jesus went to hell and took the keys of death and hell from
the devil. Also, all power in heaven and on earth was given to Jesus by God
Almighty (Philippians 2). This just makes us understand that the devil doesn’t see
or know tomorrow, he only sees the ‘’now’’.
The Bible says that the thief (the devil) comes to steal,
kill and destroy (John 10:10). All what the devil aims at doing is to
accomplish his aims now. He doesn’t care who he will use to accomplish his goals.
This is why Jesus told us to watch and pray (Matthew 26:41a). The devil’s aim
was to kill Jesus but unknown to him that Jesus’s aim on earth was die for the
sin of the whole world in order for the world to be reconciled to the God The
Father. The devil didn’t see or know that, he only saw or knew about his aim ‘’the
now’’ ‘’the present’’. This was why he chose someone closest to Jesus to crucify
Him.
Jesus told His disciples ‘’…Verily I say unto you, that
one of you shall betray me’’ (Matthew 26:21) and in Matthew 26:24, He (Jesus)
said ‘’ The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by
whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not
been born’’. As you read the above, in your mind you already knew it was Judas,
but do you know that Jesus never mentioned who would betray him? It could have
been Peter, it could have been Matthew, it could have been John the beloved and
the list goes on. But the devil chose Judas, why?
The devil an opportunity to use Judas and he did. Remember
the Bible says that the goes roams around seeking whom he may devour. While he,
the devil was roaming around, he saw an opportunity to use Judas. Notice that
after Judas betrayed Jesus he was remorseful and killed himself. Why was he
remorseful? The devil has left him, he is now back to his senses (Matthew
27:3-5).. No wonder Paul advised that it is of great importance to pray without
ceasing (1 Thessalonian 5:17) and Jesus also advised that we should watch and
pray. Meaning, be watchful, the devil is roaming around seeking whom he may
devour and pray i.e. while being watchful, pray also.
All power in heaven, on earth and underneath the earth
has being given to Jesus because He died for the sins of the whole world (the
devil’s greatest mistake). Be watchful, be prayerful, the devil is still
roaming around seeking whom he may devour.

Death of Jesus is the greatest thing in the bible. No wonder the book of Ecclesiastes said that greater is the day of death than day of birth
